Teeth whitening is a dental treatment which means it should only be carried out by a dental professional. Many beauty salons and hairdressers offer teeth whitening alongside their tanning, nail or semi-permanent makeup options however, In the UK, teeth whitening comes under the scope of practice of ‘dentistry’, which is regulated by law. Dentistry must only be carried out by dental professionals who are registered with the GDC (General Dental Council). These rules have been made to keep patients safe.

There are many ways we can whiten or brighten our smiles. The cost of treatment, current oral health, pre-existing restorations and type of tooth discolouration. We offer finance options to help you fund your treatment.

Different Methods for Teeth Whitening

    • Stain Removal Treatment.
    • In Practice Whitening.
    • At-Home Whitening Gels & Trays
    • Internal Tooth Whitening.
    • ICON Teeth Whitening.

Stain Removal Teeth Whitening Treatment

In some cases, all that is required is the lifting of surface stains to give you that brighter, whiter smile.

An airflow treatment could have the result you are looking for. This helps to remove surface stains and plaque so that you have an instant brightening result. Airflow stain removal is recommended for all patients prior to teeth whitening treatment.

In Practice Teeth Whitening

Often referred to as ‘laser’ or ‘power’ whitening; In Practice whitening with a dental professional gives you a whiter and brighter smile with no damage to your teeth or gums. The results will be visible at the end of your appointment.

The procedure is relatively simple and involves a 1-2 hour appointment with your dentist.

First, your teeth are cleaned by a dental professional. Then the shade of your teeth is determined with the help of a dental shade guide. Next, the teeth are isolated from the surrounding soft tissue (your lips and gums) to help prevent irritation caused due to the application of the whitener. The whitening gel is then applied to the tooth and an LED light is used to accelerate whitening for maximum results in minimal time.

At-Home Teeth Whitening Gels & Trays

We have 2 styles of home whitening that can brighten your smile. Each teeth whitening kit has a different strength formula, which your dentist will advise you on. All of our whitening treatments are designed to whiten your teeth with little to no sensitivity. We start with a consultation with the dentist. They will prescribe the best whitening kit for you and answer any questions that you may have.

Option 1: Philips Zoom! DayWhite

DayWhite is perfect if you want to wear trays for as short a time as possible during the day. You wear trays for 30 to 90 minutes, for results in as little as 2 weeks.

Option 2: Philips Zoom! NiteWhite

NiteWhite lets you whiten overnight as you sleep and is ideal if you’d rather wear trays at night. Available in different strengths, NiteWhite also gives noticeable results in 2 weeks.

Internal Tooth Whitening

Teeth that appear darker (due to damage or infection or after having a Root Canal Treatment) are not likely to respond to whitening treatments that only affect the surfaces of teeth. Whitening treatments that act on the outer layer of the enamel, such as professional whitening gels, only treat the surface of the teeth whereas Internal tooth Bleaching will focus on the inner structure of the tooth.

On your first appointment, your dentist will take a few photographs and an x-ray of the tooth in question. Then the content of the pulp chamber will be carefully removed – this is usually a filling that was placed after completing the Root Canal Treatment. A special whitening gel is then placed inside the pulp chamber and the cavity is sealed with a temporary filling. After 4-5 days your dentist will re-examine the tooth and if both the patient and the dentist are happy, then a new permanent white filling will be placed in the pulp chamber. If the shade is still not matching the other teeth then we will repeat the procedure.

ICON Teeth Whitening

ICON is a revolutionary new cosmetic treatment that can almost immediately repair and change the look of your teeth, without the need for any drilling or filling. This minimally invasive technique uses a process of infiltration to blend the white spots in with the rest of the tooth. First, a special gel is applied to the teeth to open the pores, before a small amount of tooth-coloured resin is applied. We then use a light to harden the resin and restore natural colour.

And best of all, we achieve all of this without using a dental drill. The process is painless and incredibly quick.
