What is Dental Hygiene?

Dental hygiene refers to the practices and habits that keep your teeth, gums, and mouth healthy. We believe in proactive dental care that prioritises preventing problems before they arise.

We understand that oral hygiene is crucial for not only your dental health but also your overall well-being. That’s why we recommend regular dental checkups and hygiene treatments to ensure your mouth, teeth, and gums stay in optimal condition.

Benefits of Good Dental Hygiene

Maintaining good dental hygiene goes beyond just a pretty smile. It offers a multitude of benefits, including:

Preventing cavities and tooth decay: Plaque buildup leads to cavities, which can cause pain, infection, and even tooth loss.

Reducing gum disease: Gingivitis and periodontitis, common gum diseases, can damage gums and bone, impacting overall health.

Fresher breath: Regular brushing and flossing eliminate bacteria that cause bad breath.

Boosted confidence: A healthy smile can enhance self-esteem and social interaction.

Expert Assessment

We’ll check your teeth and gums, identifying areas needing extra attention and discussing potential risks.

Professional Cleaning

Using specialised tools and gentle techniques, we’ll meticulously remove plaque and tartar from even the hard-to-reach areas.

Expert Guidelines

Our hygienists are passionate about empowering you with the knowledge to maintain a healthy smile. We’ll demonstrate proper brushing techniques, flossing tips, and interdental brush usage.

The Importance Of Good Oral Hygiene

Healthy Gums

Good hygiene keeps harmful bacteria at bay, preventing gum inflammation and painful conditions like gingivitis and periodontitis. Healthy gums not only contribute to a vibrant smile but also support strong teeth and overall oral health.

Natural Beauty Booster

Stained teeth can be a confidence drain, but good oral hygiene can keep your smile sparkling naturally. By removing plaque and food particles that cause discolouration, you maintain the pearly white beauty of your teeth. Smile with confidence knowing your oral hygiene routine is working wonders!

Investing in Your Overall Health

Good oral hygiene is a long-term investment in your smile. By preventing cavities and gum disease, you reduce the need for expensive dental procedures like fillings, crowns, or even extractions.

I decided to move from nhs to private treatment as I had a very bad experience where the dentist could not remove my tooth. Dr Feridah has been excellent and really helped calm my nerves. Dr Fereeba did an amazing job and seemed to remove the tooth with ease. All the staff go above and beyond and I would highly recommend this practice.

Started my journey with Manor House dental interested in invisalign. I was swiftly booked by Jaz to have a consultation with Dr Farideh and the rest became history. Fast forward a few months and many regular check ups I have finally been able to CONFIDENTLY smile again. The whole process is guided with expert care and regular milestones are established to ensure treatment is on track. Could not be more impressed or recommending of their services. I was so happy with their care I opted to also have bonding done with them too! Honestly could not fault the team one bit, a big thank you to you all for allowing me to reclaim a smile I can show off to the world!!

I’ve had Farideh as my dentist ever since I have been a child and I have noticed her amazing work ethic as she works so hard to be the best & she certainly is! She does more than what she needs to do to ensure I have the best dental care possible. The receptionists are also extremely helpful and will cater to your needs & wishes. Forever appreciative, thank you so much for everything!

10/10 dental surgery. I’ve been having treatment for around 8-9 months, braces, dental bonding which basically involved dentist totally rebuilding my teeth by hand - a smile makeover for my very damaged misaligned teeth. From my first appointment I was very happy - Dr Arshad is a total professional and incredibly good at what she does, I’m also very anxious and she is so friendly she puts me at ease every time. Her assistant (apologies I can’t remember his name, possibly Amar? Or Amir? Is also fab, they really do work very hard. All the other staff are lovely, Jas & Roobee are so welcoming and accommodating, after all this time I feel at home when I visit. I come from the other side of the city, and I’ll always be a patient. Thanks so much Manor House dental 🙏

Can't fault the surgery In anyway. The front desk, dentist and hygienist are all so lovely and professional, this is coming from someone who has a bit of a fear of dentists and I wouldn't go anywhere else! Highly recommend.

Dental Hygiene FAQ

Getting your teeth cleaned at the dentist should be a comfortable experience. If there is any gum disease present, the process might be slightly uncomfortable. Make sure you let your dentist or hygienist know if you start to feel discomfort from your treatment.

You should schedule your next teeth cleaning whenever every 3 months to once a year depending on your oral and dental hygiene.

We recommend electric toothbrushes because they are the most effective for an accurate cleaning.

Plaque and tartar will be removed from your teeth during your cleaning appointment by an instrument called a plaque scraper.

We recommend that you don’t attempt to scrape tartar and plaque from your teeth. This could do unintentional damage to your teeth.
